Ace Serves and Smashing Wins: Uganda Tennis Open 2025 Concludes with Thrilling Matches

The Uganda Tennis Open 2025 came to a thrilling conclusion on May 24th, wrapping up a two-week tournament that saw over 150 players from across the region battle it out on the courts. The tournament, sponsored by Kansai Plascon, National Council of Sports, Jibu, Ruparelia Foundation, and International Tennis Federation, featured singles and doubles competitions for men and women in three categories: juniors, Pro Event (Seniors 18+), and senior veterans.

In the men’s singles final, Kenyan player Albert John Ngogu emerged victorious, defeating Ismael Kyangawa in a nail-biting match. Meanwhile, Patricia Othieno, a Ugandan player, claimed the women’s singles title, triumphing over Kenyan opponent Gisere Umararungu.

The tournament also saw exciting wins in the doubles categories, with Simon Peter Ayella and David Oringa taking home the men’s doubles title, while Giselle Umararungu and Carine Nishimwe won the women’s doubles crown.

In the junior categories, Abdul Latif Ssendyowa, Courtney Claresha Asiimwe, Raymond Kasada, and Josephine Nasejje emerged as champions in their respective age groups.

The Uganda Tennis Open 2025 was a resounding success, thanks to the efforts of the tournament referee, Charles Wanyama, and the generous sponsorship of Kansai Plascon and other partners. The president of the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) congratulated the winners, praising the tournament’s growth and popularity over the years.

With a total prize money of UGX 20M up for grabs, the Uganda Tennis Open 2025 proved to be a highlight of the tennis calendar in the region, showcasing the talents of young and seasoned players alike.
