Badminton Fever Rises: City Tyres Pumps Up 8th East African Badminton Challenge

Kampala, Uganda – The Uganda Badminton Association (UBA) is abuzz with excitement as the city prepares to host the 8th edition of the East African Badminton Challenge. The tournament, set to take place from October 16th to 19th, 2025, at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium, is expected to attract over 1,500 participants from across the region, including Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, DR Congo, Burundi, and South Sudan.

In a significant boost to the tournament, City Tyres, the renowned brand under the Mandela Group, has reaffirmed its commitment to badminton by handing over trophies and equipment to the UBA. The partnership, which spans over a decade, is a testament to City Tyres’ dedication to promoting sports in Uganda.

The 8th East African Badminton Challenge promises to be an exciting event, with participants competing in various categories, including schools, individual events, team events, and special categories. The tournament will feature some of the best badminton players in the region, all vying for the coveted trophies and a significantly increased prize purse of 11 million Ugandan Shillings different feom last year where we had 8 million

The tournament will also feature new categories, including Media and Coaches, which are expected to attract a diverse range of participants. The UBA hopes that the tournament will provide a platform for players to showcase their skills, gain valuable exposure, and potentially secure spots in international competitions.
