Badminton Uganda Spreads Its Wings in Ngora

Badminton Uganda is taking the sport to the grassroots, and Ngora district is the latest beneficiary. The federation’s phase 2 of the Shuttle Time workshop kicked off at Ngora High School, bringing together 15 teachers from across the district.

The 2-day workshop aimed to equip teachers with badminton skills, empowering them to introduce the sport in their schools. “We want to develop badminton from the ground up,” said Simon Mugabi, CEO of Badminton Uganda. “We’ll continue with programs like training technical officials to ensure the sport grows.”

Participants raved about the skills they gained, eager to start badminton programs in their schools. Last year, Badminton Uganda covered 5 districts, training over 120 teachers from 120 schools. Now, they’re taking the initiative to Ngora and beyond
