Lugazi Sugar Marks 100 Years with Centenary Golf Tournament

In celebration of a century in Uganda’s sugar manufacturing industry, Lugazi Sugar has organized a three-day golf tournament in Lugazi, Buikwe District. The Lugazi Sugar Centenary Golf Tournament will take place from November 21 to 23, 2024, at the 18-hole Lugazi Golf Course.

The tournament, officially launched on Monday at the Mandela Group head office in Kampala’s Industrial Area, is being financed by City Tyres.

Representing Lugazi Sugar at the launch was Naduvethussery Joseph, the company’s CEO of Procurement, who outlined the event’s schedule and highlighted the company’s 100-year milestone since its establishment in 1924.

According to Joseph, professional golfers will compete on November 21 and 22, while amateur players will participate throughout all three days.

Herbert Bashasha, Chief Marketing Manager of the Mandela Group, announced the prizes, which include UGX 10 million for the top professional player, UGX 8 million for the leading amateur, and UGX 4 million for the best-performing woman. Additionally, two mountain bikes will be up for grabs
