Dreams on the Pitch: XEN Elites Talent Camp Uncovers Uganda’s Football Future

In what could mark the start of international football careers for dozens of young players from East Africa, Seeta University in Uganda is proudly hosting the prestigious XEN Elite Talent Discovery Football Camp 2025 — a 3-day football scouting event running from September 9th to 11th.

Over the course of this elite camp, scouts from Europe, Asia, and South Africa are closely assessing a vibrant mix of talent — young footballers sourced from schools, communities, and grassroots academies across Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda. These players were identified through a rigorous selection process spearheaded by XEN Elites, an organisation committed to uncovering football talent in underrepresented regions.

“They’re looking for more than just skill,” said one of the scouts. “They want intelligent players — decision-makers, leaders and what they’ve seen here in Uganda is incredibly promising.”

For many of these young athletes, the camp represents their first real exposure to international scouts and professional-level training. The energy is palpable — every sprint, every tackle, and every goal is an audition for a dream. The camp’s mission is about more than football. It’s about opportunity. According to the organizers, the goal was to target grassroots communities to offer a platform for youth who may never have access to such global attention.

Adding prestige to the camp, the camp was honoured by the presence of Ibrahim Sekagya, a Ugandan football icon and a player at Crystal Palace, who took time to mentor and inspire the players. His presence underscored the message: dreams are valid — and achievable. “To have Sekagya standing on this pitch, talking to kids from villages just like where he started — it’s powerful,” He’s living proof that East African talent belongs on the world stage.”

Uganda is fortunate to host this transformative initiative at Seeta University, which has once again positioned itself as a hub for youth empowerment through sports. As the camp continues, all eyes are on the potential stars of tomorrow. If the predictions of the scouts hold true, this week at Seeta University may be remembered as the moment when East Africa’s next generation of football legends began their journey to global stardom.

The final whistle may blow on September 11, but for many of these young dreamers — the real game is just beginning.
