Elite Schools Championship Kicks Off with Fiery Fixtures

The 7th edition of the Elite Schools Championship is set to ignite the sports scene, with seven disciplines and top schools clashing at the USSSA headquarters in Kampala. The tournament, running from February 27-29, 2026, features volleyball, handball, netball, basketball, football, and rugby sevens.

In boys’ basketball 5_5, St Janan Luwumu, the tournament host, faces tough opponents, including defending champions Buddo Senior Secondary. The girls’ basketball team, also from Buddo, looks strong in both 5_5 and 3*3 categories, taking on schools like Seroma, Ndejje, and Janan.

Girls’ football promises drama, with St Noa, the national champions, aiming for the trophy, while St Mary’s Kitende, with three previous wins 2019, 2020 and 2022, eyes another title. Jinja Progressive Academy, last year’s defending champions, are looking to be drowned.

The teams arrive on Thursday, February 26, at Janan Luwumu Bombo, gearing up for a showdown.
