The Uganda Table Tennis Federation (UTTF) has ushered in a new era of leadership following a successful Elective General Assembly held today. The incoming executive will be led by Cyrus Muganga Mark as President, Rukundo Joseph Ronald as Secretary General, and Brian Ssenyonga Charles as Treasurer. The new team takes over from the outgoing administration with a strong mandate to elevate the sport to even greater heights.
Outgoing President, who has served for an impressive 12 years, expressed his deep satisfaction in handing over a vibrant and thriving federation. He noted with pride the federation’s numerous achievements under his stewardship, including widespread grassroots expansion and enhanced national visibility for the sport. He also praised the new leadership, expressing confidence in their capability to build on the current momentum and grow the game further across the country.
One of the landmark accomplishments of the outgoing team was ensuring UTTF’s full compliance with the revised National Sports Act and Statutory Instrument. To meet the requirement of national presence in 112 districts, the federation undertook an ambitious outreach program, supplying equipment and promoting the sport in new districts. A comprehensive PDF was compiled, documenting playing activity in these areas, complete with names of schools, clubs, games masters, and their contacts, streamlining the verification process for the National Council of Sports (NCS).
The Elective General Assembly itself was a testament to this compliance, with 88 districts represented. Each district’s presence was meticulously recorded with full documentation, including attendee names, national ID back copies, and signatures, demonstrating the federation’s commitment to transparency, legality, and due process. These efforts have not only fulfilled statutory obligations but also set a benchmark for governance within Uganda’s sporting bodies.
As he steps into the honorary role of UTTF President and advisor, the outgoing leader pledged to continue supporting the new administration during the transition. He will facilitate formal handovers to bodies like NCS, ITTF, UOC, and CTTF, and ensure that all remaining requirements, including submission of audited financials, are smoothly completed. In his final remarks, he called on all stakeholders to support and respect the new leadership, praying for their success as they guide Uganda’s table tennis journey forward.
