FUFA Cracks Down on Officiating Errors, Seven Match Officials Referred for Disciplinary Hearing

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has taken decisive action against seven match officials following controversial officiating incidents in two recent domestic fixtures. The governing body’s Referees Standing Committee (FRSC) announced on Monday that the officials have been referred to the FUFA Referees Disciplinary Panel (FRDP) for further investigation.
The move comes after the FRSC conducted a detailed review of incidents that occurred during the clash between SC Villa and Express FC on March 7, 2026, as well as the earlier encounter involving Buhimba United Saints FC and Police FC played on February 17, 2026.
Among those referred is Assistant Referee Immaculate Ongiera, who officiated in the SC Villa versus Express FC match. The committee also cited Referee Henry Musisi, Assistant Referees Samuel Mbabali and Fred Kinyera, Fourth Official John Semakula, Match Assessor Hillary Kimbugwe, and General Coordinator Christopher Kugonza for their roles in the Buhimba United Saints FC versus Police FC fixture.
Pending the outcome of the disciplinary process, all seven officials have been suspended from receiving future match appointments. FUFA confirmed that the suspension will remain in effect until the FRDP concludes its review and delivers a ruling on the matter.
In its statement, the FRSC reiterated its commitment to protecting the integrity of football by demanding strict adherence to the Laws of the Game. The committee emphasized that officiating standards remain central to the credibility of competitions organized under FUFA, warning that any conduct that undermines fairness and professionalism will attract firm disciplinary action.
