Ugandan football has been rocked after the Investigatory Chamber of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee handed down provisional suspensions to three Buhimba United Saints FC players amid serious allegations of match manipulation. The decision follows growing concerns over the integrity of a league fixture believed to have been influenced for betting-related gains.
The sanctions stem from an ongoing probe into the match between Lugazi FC and Buhimba United Saints FC played on 8 November 2025. Preliminary findings from the investigation suggest that the outcome of the encounter may have been deliberately influenced, triggering alarm within football’s governing structures.
Upon receiving intelligence pointing to possible irregularities, the Investigatory Chamber launched formal inquiries into the match. Evidence gathered at this stage has reportedly linked the three players to the suspected manipulation, prompting the opening of disciplinary proceedings for a potential breach of Article 43 of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code, which prohibits the manipulation of football matches and competitions.
FUFA further noted that the alleged actions may go beyond sporting misconduct and fall within the scope of criminal offences under the National Sports Act. As a result, the case will be escalated to the Uganda Police for further investigation in accordance with national law.
Acting under Section 78 of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code, the Chairperson of the Investigatory Chamber imposed an immediate 90-day provisional suspension on Ayebale Moses, Dudu Ramathan, and Nkata Fred. The players have been formally notified, and the suspensions will remain in force as investigations continue, underscoring FUFA’s firm stance on safeguarding the credibility and integrity of Ugandan football.
