Ugandan football icon Hakim “Boda Boda” Magumba received a standing ovation as he was decorated with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Fortebet Real Stars Sports Monthly Awards, a moment that cemented his legacy as one of the nation’s most gifted midfielders. Known for his magical feet and unmatched flair, Magumba starred for SC Villa, Iganga, Atraco FC, and the Uganda Cranes, leaving a mark that continues to inspire generations.

In an emotional address, Magumba thanked the organizers, paid tribute to his parents, and acknowledged football administrators such as Isa Magoola who shaped his journey. His most powerful message, however, was directed at the youth. “Football doesn’t coexist with drugs,” he cautioned, urging upcoming players to embrace discipline and clean living. Magumba proudly revealed he played for 20 years without touching any substances, proof, he said, that talent shines brightest when supported by discipline.
The ceremony also celebrated rising and established stars across other sports. Gloria Muzito was crowned Best Player for her stellar performances at the World Islamic Solidarity Games, continuing her upward trajectory. In football, James Bogere clinched the Emerging Talent award, highlighting his rising influence on the local scene. Meanwhile, Joseph Cwinya-Ai dominated the golf category after his outstanding display at the Kinyara Sugar Open.
Magumba’s heartfelt reflections and strong stance against drug abuse resonated deeply with the audience, turning his award moment into a powerful lesson for Uganda’s sporting youth. His story remains a reminder that greatness is not only built on skill, but on character, sacrifice, and unwavering discipline.
