Kampala Ball Games II Qualifiers Underway

The journey to determine Kampala Region’s representatives for the 2025 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association Ball Games II finals in Tororo District officially began on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. The initial phase focused on the Under-16 and Under-15 boys’ football qualifiers, which took place at Kibuli Senior Secondary School.

Advancing to the Semifinals
Following the preliminary matches, Kawempe Muslim SS, Caltec Academy Makerere, Kibuli SS, and Kakungulu Memorial have all secured their spots in the semifinals. According to Ssentongo Abbey, the Kampala Region organizing secretary, these qualifiers are scheduled to conclude on Friday, June 20, 2025, also at Kibuli SS.

Upcoming Disciplines
The competition will expand on Thursday to include other sports. Qualifiers for netball, 3×3 basketball, volleyball, and handball are set to commence, with Friday marking the final day of the regional qualifiers.

In the Under-16 football action, Kawempe Muslim SS played to draws in both of their group stage games. They had a goalless draw against Caltec Academy Makerere and later a 1-1 draw with Mengo Senior School, where Solomon Muwanguzi’s late goal for Mengo canceled out Muwonge Fahim’s first-half header for Kawempe Muslim.

The day’s significant derby saw Kakungulu Memorial emerge victorious over Kibuli SS with a 1-0 scoreline. In the final match of the day, Caltec Academy Makerere convincingly defeated Mengo Senior School 4-0.
