Kawempe Muslim SS Reigns Supreme with Historic Double Triumph in Buganda Schools Competition

Kawempe Muslim Secondary School etched its name in the annals of Ugandan school sports by securing a historic double victory in the 2025 Buganda Schools Competition. In a dramatic showdown at Kawanda, the powerhouse institution clinched both the boys’ and girls’ football titles, affirming their dominance on the grand stage.

The boys’ final delivered an edge-of-the-seat thriller as Kawempe Muslim SS overcame Buddo SS in a tense penalty shootout, prevailing 5-3 after a 1-1 stalemate in regulation time. The Ayub Khalifa-led side dictated proceedings in the first half, but Buddo mounted a spirited second-half comeback. Captain Ssekitooleko Ryan fired Kawempe ahead in the 55th minute, capitalizing on a pinpoint cross from tournament MVP Alvin Kitiibwa. However, Buddo SS clawed back in the dying minutes, with Katamba Umar converting a last-gasp penalty to force a shootout. Ironically, Katamba, the hero moments earlier, turned villain as he missed his penalty, sealing victory for Kawempe.

The girls’ team continued their reign of supremacy, successfully defending their crown with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga. Dorcus Kisakye emerged as the match-winner, netting the decisive goal in the second half to guide her team to yet another championship. Their triumph reinforced Kawempe Muslim’s stature as the undisputed queens of Ugandan schoolgirls’ football.

Beyond football, other disciplines also witnessed intense competition. St. Noa Primary School emerged victorious in the primary schools’ football category, edging out Kampala Grammar Primary School in a penalty shootout. Meanwhile, Buddo SS dominated the netball scene, defeating hosts Kawanda SS 25-20 in a gripping final. The tournament showcased raw talent, resilience, and an unwavering competitive spirit among young athletes from across the region.

Kawempe Muslim SS’s twin triumph underscored their sporting excellence, solidifying their status as a juggernaut in Ugandan school sports. Their remarkable achievement not only cements their legacy but also sets a high standard for future competitions, inspiring a new generation of aspiring athletes.
