Marrakech – Morocco has unveiled its first fleet of 723 high-end Yutong buses from China, marking a major milestone in the country’s preparations to host the 35th Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) this December. The delivery signals Morocco’s intent to set new transport standards for one of Africa’s biggest sporting spectacles.

Chinese manufacturer Yutong confirmed the handover at its electric vehicle facility in Zhengzhou, Henan province, in a ceremony attended by Moroccan officials and company executives. Yutong said the buses, specially tailored to withstand Morocco’s climate and terrain, would provide “comprehensive transport services and reliable operational support,” cementing its position as the lead mobility partner for AFCON 2025.
Beyond AFCON, the investment reflects Morocco’s long-term sporting ambitions. With the Kingdom set to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, the new fleet demonstrates a wider strategy to align world-class infrastructure with global football standards. The Ministry of Interior has already launched a tender for an additional 1,317 buses, including 30 electric models, underscoring Morocco’s commitment to sustainable transport.
The cutting-edge fleet will not only ferry players, officials, and fans across host cities but also showcase Morocco’s ability to merge sporting prestige with modern mobility. Designed to endure intense heat, humidity, and even sandstorms, the buses embody Morocco’s determination to deliver a seamless AFCON experience.
Coupled with major upgrades to stadiums, airports, and urban infrastructure, the new transport network positions Morocco to stage a landmark tournament. As the first whistle of AFCON 2025 draws near, the arrival of Yutong’s buses sends a clear message: Morocco is ready to move African football forward, both on and off the pitch.
