Namibia A secured a narrow 2-run win over Uganda A in a closely contested encounter at the Lakeside Oval. After winning the toss, Namibia opted to bat first and posted 145/6 in their 20 overs. Captain Jan Balt anchored the innings with a composed 48 runs, well-supported by Zacheo Jansen Van Vuuren’s 43 and Dylan Leicher’s brisk 29.

Uganda A’s bowlers kept things tight throughout the innings. Ivan Baidu stood out with figures of 3/23, while Pius Oloka and Brighton Muganzi chipped in with a wicket each. A sharp run-out from Kenneth Waiswa added to the bowling unit’s disciplined effort, restricting Namibia A from breaking away in the final overs.

Chasing 146 for victory, Uganda A looked poised to get over the line. Opener Simon Ssesazi laid a solid foundation with a steady 66, and Pascal Murungi kept hopes alive with an unbeaten 38 off 26 balls. The pair combined calmness and intent, putting Uganda A within touching distance of the target.
However, Namibia A’s Jan De Villiers delivered a match-defining final over, conceding just one run and claiming two wickets. His clinical execution under pressure turned the tide, halting Uganda’s progress just short of the mark. Uganda A closed their innings at 143/5, falling agonizingly short by two runs.
Uganda A will now shift focus to their next fixture against Nigeria on July 18 at 9:30 AM at the same venue. With momentum up for grabs, the team will be aiming to bounce back strongly and keep their campaign on track.
