Netball Uganda Sets Its Sights on Global Excellence with Dr. Manoj Joshi’s Strategic Appointment

Kampala, Uganda – In a landmark move poised to redefine the trajectory of netball in Uganda, Netball Uganda has appointed Dr. Manoj Joshi as its new Director for International Partnerships and Sponsorships. The announcement was made at an elegant ceremony held at the prestigious Kabira Country Club in Bukoto, Kampala, signaling a bold step towards global prominence for the sport. Dr. Joshi’s tenure is set to run from 2025 to 2027.

Dr. Joshi, an internationally recognized strategist with extensive experience in global sports partnerships, brings a fresh vision to Netball Uganda. As a non-executive director, he will spearhead efforts to establish and strengthen international relationships, secure strategic sponsorships, and elevate the Netball Uganda brand on the world stage. His appointment comes at a critical juncture as the national team, the She Cranes, gears up for the highly anticipated Celtic Cup in Scotland this November.

But Dr. Joshi’s vision goes far beyond wins on the court. He is committed to leveraging netball as a platform for holistic development, combining sport with education and youth empowerment. A cornerstone of his strategy is the introduction of scholarships in leading UK universities for promising young athletes, offering them opportunities to pursue higher education while nurturing their sporting talents. This initiative reflects a growing global trend of integrating sports excellence with academic achievement—a model that could inspire a new generation of Ugandan athletes to think beyond the game.

“Netball is more than just a sport; it is a catalyst for personal growth, leadership, and international engagement,” Dr. Joshi remarked during the inauguration ceremony. “My goal is to position Uganda as a hub for netball excellence, where talent meets opportunity, and where young athletes are prepared for success both on and off the court.”

Industry experts see this appointment as a transformative moment for Ugandan sports. By building bridges with international brands, forging global partnerships, and championing education-driven initiatives, Dr. Joshi is expected to enhance the visibility and sustainability of netball in Uganda, while simultaneously nurturing the careers of emerging athletes.

Netball Uganda President, Jane Akello, expressed her enthusiasm: “Dr. Joshi’s wealth of experience in international sports management and sponsorship is precisely what we need at this pivotal moment. His innovative approach will not only strengthen our team’s competitive edge but also empower our athletes to pursue education and leadership opportunities worldwide.”

As Uganda prepares for the Celtic Cup, anticipation is high for the She Cranes to showcase not just their athletic prowess, but also the broader impact of Dr. Joshi’s strategic initiatives. His appointment signals a bold ambition: to transform Ugandan netball into a globally recognized and respected force, inspiring youth and athletes across the nation.

With Dr. Manoj Joshi at the helm of international partnerships and sponsorships, Netball Uganda is poised to soar to new heights—merging sports excellence with education, innovation, and international collaboration. This appointment marks the beginning of a new era, one that could redefine how Ugandan netball is perceived and experienced on the global stage.
