Uganda’s national beach soccer team, the Sand Cranes, are gearing up for an exciting challenge at the inaugural CECAFA Beach Soccer Championship, set to take place from July 16–20 at Pirates Beach in Mombasa, Kenya. With national pride and regional dominance at stake, the team is poised to make a strong impression in their Group B campaign.

The Sand Cranes will face tough opposition in their group, having been drawn against beach soccer powerhouses Tanzania and a rising Seychelles side. Uganda’s opening fixture is scheduled for July 17 at 4:30 PM against Tanzania, a clash that is expected to set the tone for their tournament journey. Their second and final group stage match comes a day later, on July 18 at 1:30 PM, when they take on Seychelles.
With only three teams in Group B and just two group matches, Uganda’s margin for error is slim. The top two teams from the group are expected to progress to the knockout stage, making every goal and every point critical. Head coach and technical staff are confident in the squad’s preparation and fitness, emphasizing teamwork and discipline as key pillars of their strategy.
Group A, meanwhile, comprises hosts Kenya, along with Malawi, Burundi, and Zanzibar. The competition is expected to be fierce, with each team aiming to make history in this inaugural edition of the tournament. The tournament is not only a showcase of talent but also a crucial platform for beach soccer development in the CECAFA region.
As the countdown begins, excitement is building across Uganda, with fans eager to rally behind the Sand Cranes. All eyes will be on Pirates Beach as Uganda looks to kick-start their campaign with a statement performance and stake their claim for the regional crown.
