Record Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa have announced a high-profile reshuffle to their technical and management setup, bringing in a team of seasoned football professionals to steer the club into a new era of growth and competitiveness. The changes, unveiled in an official press release dated July 21, 2028, mark a significant strategic shift as the club aims to reclaim its dominance in domestic and regional football.
At the heart of the appointments is former Uganda Cranes international and SC Villa stalwart Moses Basena, who assumes the role of Technical Director. Basena, known for his tactical acumen and extensive coaching experience, is expected to bring fresh vision and leadership to the club’s football philosophy and player development programs. His return is seen as a homecoming, having been a key player for SC Villa and Coffee SC in the 1990s.
Joining him is former national team goalkeeper Sam Kawalya, who will serve as the Goalkeeping Coach. Popularly known as “Mujabi,” Kawalya brings with him a wealth of experience between the posts and a reputation for nurturing top goalkeeping talent. Former SC Villa midfielder Dan Mubiru, fondly nicknamed “Mujapan,” takes on the role of Team Manager, while Hakim Senkumba, another club alumnus, has been entrusted with leading the Youth Team setup.
Additionally, the club has appointed Samuel Tusingwire as Performance Analyst, a move that signals SC Villa’s commitment to data-driven player performance and tactical improvement. The SC Villa leadership expressed confidence that the appointments would enhance on-field success while fostering a sustainable, talent-driven structure for the future.
