Soroti City falls to a sensational Olila Cricket Club by 9 wickets in the final of the Women’s T20 league.

The two-time champion of the last two seasons set 75 runs for Olira Cricket Club to chase, and the target was reached with less strain.

Soroti, who opted to bat first, lost all their wickets in 20 overs, but Olira managed to reach the target just after 14 overs for a loss of 1 wicket.

In the first inning, Proacovia Alako had 17 runs, and Jamia Abdallah Muhammad had 15 runs, while Nandera Immaculate picked up two wickets in 4 overs, having her economy at 2.25.

Phiona Eguru Kalume, Nyama Gabriel Devine, and Lorna Anyait all picked up at least a wicket, while Esther Illuko was at her finest, running out four batters.

Turning to the second inning, Illuko again stood sensational with 32 runs off 31 balls not out, Asumin Akurut had 25 runs off 40 balls, and Melissa Ariokot had 11 off 13 balls not out.

The game, played at Lugogo Cricket Oval on Saturday, August 2nd, saw Olila win their first league title ending Soroti City dominance.

Olila reached the target of 76 runs in just 14 overs, losing only one wicket. Asumin Akurut scored 25 runs off 40 balls, and Melissa Ariokot added 11 runs off 13 balls.

This win marks a historic moment for Olira Cricket Club, ending Soroti City’s dominance in the league.
