A total of 120 men and 30 women will compete for brand-new Subaru Imprezas as the Nile Special National Open Pool Championship climaxes this Sunday at MTN Arena, Lugogo, with the finals attracting the country’s top cue sports talent.

Defending ladies’ champion Lukia Naiga, who won a car last year, opens her campaign against Angella Busingye, while reigning men’s champion Mansoor Bwanika has been paired with Amos Ndyagumanawe, a former car winner from 2015, setting up a high-profile early showdown.
The brand-new Subaru Imprezas were officially unveiled at the National Council of Sports, highlighting the championship’s growing stature. In addition to the cars, the sponsors have offered UGX 5,000,000 to the men’s winner and UGX 3,000,000 to the women’s champion, with both victors taking home cars, while Nile Special will also donate pool tables to selected players to support performance development.
Competition adjustments saw eight men and four women seeded directly into the finals, a move designed to reward consistent performers. The official draws were conducted at Cooper Chimney, Lugogo, confirming the final matchups ahead of Sunday’s showdown.
Explaining the choice of the Subaru Impreza, National Open Project Coordinator and Pool Association of Uganda General Secretary Mr. Wasike Paul said the car reflects the values of sport. “We looked for something that represents energy, discipline, and performance. The Subaru Impreza fits perfectly, it’s a sporty car every athlete would want to drive,” he said.
