
A wave of excitement swept through East Africa as the XEN Elites Talent Discovery Football Camp 2025, hosted at Seeta University, concluded a successful three-day program focused on identifying and nurturing young football talent from the region. From Uganda to Rwanda, Kenya to Tanzania, the camp brought together over 100 promising players—each one hungry for opportunity, guidance, and a shot at global football.The President of XEN Elites, Mr. Mohammad Mendah, officially unveiled the 25 most outstanding players selected from the camp. These athletes, chosen for their skills, discipline, and potential, will now embark on life-changing football journeys:
11 players will join entry-level clubs in Europe, including teams in United Kingdom (UK), Norway, Sweden, Germany and other countries

14 players have been selected to join the XEN Elites Development Programme in South Africa, where they will receive advanced training and mentorship to prepare for professional careers.
Among the 25 selected, three girls Nabasereka Lydia, Namutebi Kalsum and Mupyanga Halimah earned their spots through sheer talent, work ethic, and focus. Scouts described them as exceptional, standing out even in the face of tough competition. Their inclusion highlights the growing role and recognition of female footballers in the region.
The undisputed standout of the camp was Okwi Reagan from Ebenezer soccer academy, who was named Player of the Camp with remarkable agility, vision, and composure on the ball, Reagan left a lasting impression on coaches and scouts alike, establishing himself as a rising star in Ugandan football.
The camp saw competitive displays from several academies and university teams. Among the top performing Ugandan teams were: Seeta University Team, Ebenezer Soccer Academy, Junior Eagles Soroti, Vision for Africa Football Academy, ISRA and Rines, these were joined by impressive teams from Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda, creating a truly East African atmosphere and highlighting the depth of football talent across the region.
A surprise visit by Ibrah Sekajja, Uganda’s very own international professional currently playing for Welling United (UK), electrified the camp. Sekajja, deeply moved by the level of talent and passion on display, urged the young players to prioritize discipline, calling it “the most valuable and vital key in football—and in life.” “Talent may get you through the gates,” but discipline is what keeps you on the pitch, this is just the beginning of these young prayers journey. He will help to guide and mentor the selected players as they step into professional pathways.
Seeta University, proud host of the event, reiterated its commitment to youth empowerment and sports development. The University’s Academic Registrar praised the initiative and pledged further support for such transformative programs, noting that sports and education go hand in hand in shaping responsible future leaders. In collaboration with XEN Elites, the University envisions future camps and development programs that will continue to uplift underprivileged, yet talented youth from small villages and rural communities across East Africa.
The XEN Elites Talent Discovery Camp 2025 has proven that East Africa is rich with untapped football potential. With continued support, training, and mentorship, these young stars—many from humble backgrounds—now have a real chance to shine on the global stage.
