The stage is set for exciting clashes in the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 16 after Tuesday morning’s highly anticipated draw at the FUFA Complex in Mengo. The draw, conducted live on FUFA TV, was overseen by Ibrahim Mugisha, a former Uganda Cranes goalkeeper and five-time cup winner. Top clubs from the StarTimes Uganda Premier League and FUFA Big League now brace for intense knockout action, with fixtures promising high stakes and potential upsets.
Defending champions Kitara FC, who secured last season’s title with a narrow 1-0 victory over NEC FC, will face a tricky away fixture against Big League side Gaddafi FC. Meanwhile, record 10-time winners KCCA FC will host Rwenzori Lions, a surprise package from the Kitara region. SC Villa, the reigning StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions, have been drawn away to Lugazi FC, adding to the round’s intrigue.

Elsewhere, current Uganda Premier League table leaders Vipers SC, who boast three cup triumphs, will battle Big League leaders Blacks Power FC in what promises to be a fiery contest. URA FC, another three-time winner, has been paired with Mbale-based Kataka FC, while 2022 champions BUL FC will play host to West Nile Region’s Total FC. Additionally, a fierce military derby awaits as Maroons FC takes on Police FC, with Kaaro Karungi set to challenge UPDF FC.
According to FUFA Competitions Director Hajat Aisha Nalule, the Round of 16 matches will take place between March 17 and March 21, 2025, as single-leg ties. She emphasized that under Article 19 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup Rules, the team with the most goals advances, and if the match ends in a draw, a penalty shootout will determine the winner. With the stakes high, every team will be aiming to avoid elimination.
As Uganda’s premier knockout competition moves into its decisive phase, fans eagerly anticipate the drama, upsets, and showcase of talent that make the Stanbic Uganda Cup a spectacle. Will the giants dominate, or will underdogs script history? The journey to cup glory continues!
