The wait is finally over. The 2025/26 StarTimes Uganda Premier League bursts into life this Friday, September 26th, with six opening-day clashes that promise fireworks across the country.

A new chapter begins with 16 clubs chasing glory in a campaign set to run on a three-round format , a move expected to heighten competitiveness and test squad depth like never before.
The spotlight will be on The Royals Park in Hoima, where Buhimba United Saints FC mark their debut season in front of a home crowd against Entebbe UPPC FC. The tie has been billed as a “TV Game” and will showcase the newcomers’ credentials under the gaze of millions.
Elsewhere, BUL FC, last season’s nearly men, open their account against URA FC, while a heavyweight showdown is brewing at the Kigaaya-based Kitara FC, who host giants KCCA FC in what could be an early title-shaping battle.
In Lugazi, the hosts Lugazi FC square off with Calvary FC in a clash expected to draw massive local support, while Police FC take on Mbarara City FC in Kamwokya. The day ends with a primetime fixture under the Nakivubo floodlights as Express FC lock horns with UPDF FC at 8:00 pm.
Notably, Vipers SC and NEC FC , Uganda’s flagbearers on the continental stage , will sit out the opening weekend, leading to the postponement of their scheduled fixtures against SC Villa and Maroons FC respectively.
Match Officials have been confirmed, with Okello Dick overseeing the historic Royals Park curtain-raiser in Hoima, while Duula Joshua takes charge in Lugazi.
