Through the Lens and Beyond: Honouring Motorsport Journalists of the 2025 Season

In the fast-paced world of motorsport, where every second counts, there exists a group of professionals whose role often goes unnoticed but is vital to the sport’s soul: the journalists. As engines roar, tyres screech, and dust rises, motorsport journalists stand at the crossroads where speed, passion, and human stories collide. They are the storytellers of speed, the bridge between the track and the audience, capturing the essence of the sport and making it live far beyond the finish line.

Throughout the 2025 season, these unsung heroes braved every element, scorching heat, pouring rain, and the unrelenting pressure of being in the right place at the right time. From the press conferences and scrutineering bays to service parks and ceremonial starts, from the remote rally sections in the heart of Uganda to ARC circuits buzzing with energy, motorsport journalists were there present, engaged, and committed to telling the story of every race, every challenge, and every victory.

With cameras in hand, microphones poised, notebooks ready, and passion in their hearts, they transformed fleeting moments into timeless stories. Their lenses became the world’s eyes, capturing the drama, the emotion, and the grit of motorsport. Through powerful imagery, engaging video content, insightful articles, and rapid news bulletins, they brought the sport closer to fans, bringing every thrill and every heartbreak into living rooms across the globe.

Motorsport journalism is not simply about reporting results; it is about preserving the history of the sport. It is about capturing raw emotion, teamwork, and sacrifice. It requires an unwavering dedication to follow each stage, each category, and every individual involved—the drivers, co-drivers, organisers, FIA delegates, sponsors, FMU officials, marshals, and fans. It takes a deep love for the sport to stand inches away from a speeding rally car, to embrace the dust, and to wait for hours to capture that one defining moment—the shot that tells the entire story.

Unfortunately, too often, the work of journalists is underestimated. Yet, without them, the sport would lack both memory and connection. These professionals are the backbone of motorsport, ensuring transparency, visibility, and growth. Through their words and images, they fuel fan engagement, attract sponsorship, inspire young talent, and elevate the profile of the sport both nationally and internationally. Motorsport Fraternities acknowledges and celebrates the efforts of all motorsport journalists, photographers, videographers, content creators, reporters, and media teams who dedicated their time, energy, and skills throughout the 2025 season. Some told stories before the race even began, others captured the intensity of competition, while many chronicled the moments of joy, heartbreak, and triumph that followed once the dust had settled. Each one played a crucial role in weaving the complete, authentic narrative of the season.

As we celebrate journalism, we also celebrate the excellence of the athletes on the stages. Congratulations to the 2025 National Rally Championship (NRC) Champions, Ronald Ssebuguzi and Anthony Mugambwa, whose remarkable consistency and mastery defined the season. Applause also goes to the 2WD Champions, Mansoor Lubega and Ronald Bukenya, and the CRC Champions, Walter Kibande and Duncan Katumba, whose unforgettable performances not only inspired fans but also provided motorsport journalists with the stories they longed to tell.

A special shout-out goes to Yasin Nasser and Ali Katumba, the 2025 ARC Champions. Their incredible achievement of winning the Africa Rally Championship was a landmark moment for Ugandan motorsport. Yasin Nasser, a champion of perseverance and skill, has always been vocal in his gratitude to the journalists and photographers who captured his journey. His heartfelt appreciation of the media’s role in telling his story reflects the essential bond between the sport and the storytellers. Big up, champion—your success is not only a triumph on the stages but a victory for all of us who stand behind the lens, helping tell your incredible story. You’ve made us all proud.

Looking towards the 2026 season, it is essential to continue embracing, supporting, and appreciating motorsport journalists. Their contribution goes beyond simply recording events; they play a critical role in ensuring that the athletes’ efforts, the event’s legacy, and the growth of motorsport are properly represented. Let us spread respect, love, and recognition for these tireless individuals who, behind the scenes, ensure that every achievement, every struggle, and every moment on the track is witnessed, remembered, and celebrated.

To all motorsport journalists, photographers, videographers, and content creators: Your work, your passion, your time, and your unwavering dedication do not go unnoticed. Motorsport is big and proud of you. Through your lenses, your words, your videos, and your moments, you bring the sport to life. Thank you for telling the stories that otherwise might have been lost in the dust.

As we stand at the threshold of the 2026 season, with the WRC, ARC and NRC ready to ignite another year of high-speed excitement, it’s clear that motorsport journalists are prepared to take us on this thrilling ride once more. With each race, each story, and each image, they are as integral to the sport as the drivers, the teams, and the fans. Their lenses are our voices, and through their work, we celebrate the passion, the history, and the spirit of Ugandan motorsport.

Let us give flowers to those who truly deserve it. Journalism is not just a job; it is a calling. And the journalists who bring motorsport to the world are its greatest ambassadors.
