KAMPALA – In a strategic move to enhance governance and streamline licensing procedures, the Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) has appointed new officials to lead its Licensing Commission. The decision, spearheaded by UBF President Muhangi Moses, aligns with Article 11.4.1(b) of the federation’s constitution and aims to fortify the regulatory framework governing the sport. This leadership shake-up signals the federation’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and compliance with international boxing standards.
The newly constituted Licensing Commission will be responsible for overseeing the accreditation of boxers, coaches, and officials, ensuring that all stakeholders meet the requisite qualifications and adhere to established guidelines. With Ugandan boxing gaining momentum on the global stage, the commission is expected to introduce rigorous vetting mechanisms and enforce policies that uphold the integrity of the sport. Their mandate also includes monitoring compliance with safety protocols, ethical conduct, and professional standards within the boxing fraternity.
UBF President Muhangi emphasized that the restructuring of the Licensing Commission is a crucial step toward professionalizing the sport in Uganda. “This appointment is not just about filling positions; it is about creating a system that guarantees fairness, credibility, and growth in Ugandan boxing,” he stated. He further underscored the importance of the commission in fostering a culture of discipline and meritocracy, ensuring that only qualified individuals are entrusted with official roles in the sport.
The announcement has been met with optimism from stakeholders, including athletes, coaches, and boxing enthusiasts, who view it as a progressive step in the federation’s evolution. As Ugandan boxing continues to produce world-class talent, the strengthened licensing framework is expected to provide a solid foundation for sustainable growth. With a renewed focus on governance and regulatory compliance, the UBF is positioning itself as a model sports federation in the region.
