Nakisuuyi Sparks Uganda’s T20 Revival with Bat and Ball

Uganda reignited their tournament hopes with a dominant eight-wicket triumph over Rwanda, a performance anchored by the brilliance of all-rounder Immaculate Nakisuuyi. After a stuttering start to their campaign against Tanzania, the Victoria Pearls showed their resilience by dismantling Rwanda’s batting unit before cruising to the modest target at the Namibia Cricket Ground.

Rwanda’s innings never found rhythm, folding for 114 in 19.5 overs under Uganda’s disciplined bowling attack. Nakisuuyi led from the front with the ball, snaring 2/20 in her spell and tightening the screws on Rwanda’s middle order. The breakthrough also cemented her place in the record books as she became only the second Ugandan woman to claim 50 T20I wickets, boasting an economy rate that underlines her value in pressure situations.

The chase was a statement of intent rather than a survival act. Uganda’s top order set a steady foundation before Nakisuuyi and Ritah Musamali stitched together a calm, commanding partnership that silenced Rwanda’s hopes of a comeback. Nakisuuyi’s unbeaten 43 off 42 balls showcased maturity, while Musamali’s support at the other end ensured Uganda crossed the line with 23 balls to spare at 116/2.

For Uganda, the timing of this resurgence could not have been better. With one win and one loss in the bag, the Pearls now control their destiny in the group stage. Victory over archrivals Kenya on Wednesday would not only guarantee quarterfinal qualification but also inject momentum into a side that seems to thrive when the stakes are high.

As the tournament heads into its decisive phase, Uganda’s success will hinge on translating individual brilliance into consistent team performances. Nakisuuyi’s all-round display has set the standard, but against a spirited Kenyan side, the Pearls must summon both discipline and daring if they are to extend their stay on Namibia’s big stage.
