Uganda Flags Off Team to ISF U-15 Gymnasiade in Serbia

A contingent of 47 athletes and officials has been flagged off to represent Uganda at the ISF U-15 Gymnasiade in Zlatibor, Serbia. The team comprises 31 student athletes, including 15 boys and 16 girls, who will compete in badminton, table tennis, swimming, and athletics.

Kibuli Secondary School and Seroma Christian High School will represent Uganda at the third edition of this prestigious event. The team was flagged off on Monday at Copper Chimney, Lugogo, by Cleophas Mugenyi, Acting Director of Basic Education at the Ministry of Education and Sports.

“The vision of the Ministry is to excel in education and sports. Seeing these students represent the country is a confirmation of our vision,” Mugenyi said.

In attendance was Sammy Odong, Assistant Commissioner of Physical Education at the Ministry of Education and Sports, and team leader Patrick Okanya, USSSA President Emeritus.

“I congratulate the schools and athletes who have been selected to represent Uganda. Uganda is one of the top countries in Africa in sports,” said Justus Mugisha, President of USSSA.

The ISF Gymnasiade will take place from April 4th to 14th, 2025, in Zlatibor, Serbia. Uganda will participate in four sports: table tennis, swimming, badminton, and athletics.

  • Table Tennis: Kibuli Secondary School (Boys & Girls), Seroma Christian High School (Boys)
  • Swimming: Seroma Christian High School
  • Badminton: Seroma Christian High School (Boys & Girls)
  • Athletics: Team Uganda
