
In a match that will go down in history, Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga pulled off a massive upset, defeating football giants St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende 2-1 in the Elite Games. The drama-filled clash at Bombo saw Uganda Martyrs take the lead through Gerenga Ivan’s first-half strike.
The Kampala champions doubled their advantage after the break, with Usama Kyabaggu’s goal putting Kitende under pressure. Despite Denis Kisirko’s late consolation, Uganda Martyrs held on to seal a historic win.
Kitende had earlier shown their attacking firepower, demolishing Fortportal SS 5-1, keeping their quarterfinal hopes alive. Meanwhile, reigning USSSA national champions Buddo Secondary School continued their winning streak, beating Kyadondo SS 1-0 and Standard High School Zana 2-0.
