“Ugandan Badminton Duo Clinches Semifinal Thriller, Advances to Women’s Doubles Final”

Fadilah Shamika Mohamed Rafi and Tracy Naluwooza, Africa’s top-ranked women’s doubles pair, stunned Malaysia’s Lim Xuan and Joanne Ng in a thrilling semifinal match at the 2025 Uganda International Badminton Series. The Ugandan duo claimed a 21-12, 17-21, 21-19 victory, exacting revenge for their recent loss in the Kampala International Future Series.

With the win, Shamika and Naluwooza advance to the Women’s Doubles Final, where they’ll face Switzerland’s Jenjira Stadelmann and Leila Zarrouk. Other Ugandan players had varying fortunes, with Muzafaru Lubega and Husina Kobugabe losing in mixed doubles, Kobugabe and Gladys Mbabazi exiting in singles, and Fred Kirabo and Ivan Mayega bowing out in men’s doubles.
