Harare, Zimbabwe – August 16, 2025 — Uganda’s motocross star, Arithea Nakiwala, bike number 224, is proudly representing the nation at the Motocross of African Nations (MXOAN) event currently taking place in Harare, Zimbabwe. Among the 36 riders who travelled to represent Uganda, Arithea brings not just talent and ambition, but a story of resilience and national pride.

In a conversation before the start of the competition, Arithea shared her excitement about participating in this high-level international event. “It’s a huge opportunity to represent Uganda and to compete alongside the best riders from the continent,” she said with a smile.

Arithea narrated the team’s journey from Uganda to Zimbabwe, highlighting both the excitement and the challenges they faced . While preparations in Uganda were thorough, the team encountered an unexpected delay at the Zimbabwean border due to public holidays — Heroes Day and Defence Forces Day, observed on Monday and Tuesday — which slowed down the clearance process for their bikes.
“We didn’t get enough time to practice on the new track because our bikes were delayed at the border,” Arithea explained. “It was frustrating, but we remained focused.”
Despite the setback, team Uganda kept their spirits high and adapted quickly. By August 16, riders had completed their briefing and Heat One, and Arithea reported that things were looking promising for the team.
Commenting on the Harare track, Arithea described it as “ok and doable,” praising its exciting jumps and smooth turns. “Everything on the track is wonderful,” she said. However, she noted the importance of having the right tyres, given the track’s nature. “Some of my fellow riders are struggling because their tyres are worn out or too loose. But with proper equipment, this track is fun to ride.”
Arithea Nakiwala, proudly sponsored by Foresters Nation Uganda and the Ministry of Internal Affairs – Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control, is determined to make Uganda proud.
“I’m here to represent my country and to show that women in motorsport can rise and compete at the highest levels. I promise to give it my all,” she stated confidently.
As the competition progresses, Uganda rallies behind Arithea and the rest of the team with great hope and belief. Her fans and supporters, both at home and in Harare, are cheering her on with the confidence that she will indeed fly the Ugandan flag high.
We wish you all the best, Arithea Nakiwala #224. Keep soaring and representing Women in Motorsport Uganda with pride!
