Uganda’s Rugby Cranes Fall to Kenya Simbas

The Rugby Cranes suffered a 32-24 defeat to the Kenya Simbas at Namboole Stadium, ending their semifinal hopes in the Rugby Africa Cup. Despite a strong performance, Uganda’s team was unable to overcome costly mistakes and missed opportunities.

The game was intense from the start, with both teams testing each other’s defenses. Uganda’s Adrian Kasito nearly scored early on, but the try was disallowed, and Philip Wokorach missed the resulting penalty. Kenya took the lead through Griffin Chao’s try, followed by Barry Young’s score under the posts.

In the second half, Kenya extended their lead with a drop goal and another try, while Uganda struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities. Despite some late tries, including ones from Wokorach and Oketayot, Kenya sealed the win with another drop goal and penalty kick.

The Kenya Simbas will face Zimbabwe in the semifinals, while Algeria takes on Namibia. The Rugby Cranes will now compete in placement matches, looking to bounce back from their loss.
