Uganda’s Teams Prepare for CAF Africa Schools Football Championship

Uganda’s girls and boys teams are gearing up for the CAF Africa Schools Football Championship in Ghana. The girls’ team, St Noa Girls, arrived in Accra yesterday, Saturday, April 20th and had a recovery session at Nania Park. They will have a training session this Easter sunday at 10AM local time at Union Park.

The boys’ team, St Mary’s Kitende, arrived in Accra on Easter Sunday at 11:20am local time and had a recovery session at 4:45pm at Union Park. The teams are preparing for the tournament, which kicks off on April 23rd. The draws for the championship will take place on monday 21st April 2025, determining the teams’ paths to the title.

There are eight Boys and Girls teams that will compete on the pitch, but will also receive guidance away from the field on a range of subjects in what will be a life-changing experience for many.

The Capacity Building Workshops will include Safeguarding, Young Reporters, Young Referees, a Coaching course, Safety & Security and Medical.

There will also be workshops for the players on Integrity, and sessions held by UNICEF and FIFPRO

There is a first prize of USD300,000 for the continental champions in both the Boys and Girls competitions, while the runners-up receive USD 200,000 and third-place USD 150,000
