Uganda’s Thrilling Win Secures Semifinal Spot and Captain’s Milestone

Kenya 107/8 in 20 overs
Uganda 108/2 in 18.4 overs

In a nail-biting match, Uganda’s Victoria Pearls defeated Kenya, sealing their spot in the semifinals of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers. Captain Janet Mbabazi stole the show with a remarkable international T20 half-century, earning her the Man of the Match award.

Regardless of the match outcome, Uganda was almost certain to finish second in the group, thanks to Rwanda’s loss. Even if Rwanda had won, Uganda would have maintained its second-place position due to a superior net run rate.

The semifinals promise to be intense, with the winners advancing to the global qualifier in Nepal next year. Unfortunately, the teams that finish third and fourth will remain in Division 1 Africa, awaiting the next qualifier.

Uganda won the match against Kenya, scoring 108/2, while Kenya scored 107/10.
