
The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Elite Games are set to kick off on February 14th, 2025, at GNS Plaza, Old Kampala – Mengo, bringing together the finest secondary school teams for a thrilling three-day competition. Featuring six disciplines—Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Handball, Netball, and Rugby 7s—this prestigious event serves as a curtain-raiser for the new season, showcasing the best talent from the previous USSSA tournaments.
In the girls’ football category, defending champions Kawempe Muslim SS will headline Group A, where they will face Uganda Martyrs, Sacred Heart, and Bukedde Comprehensive. Meanwhile, Group B features strong contenders such as St. Noa Girls, Amus College, Boni Consili Vocational SS, and Sheema Girls, all eager to claim the top spot. The boys’ football tournament promises intense matchups, with defending champions St. Julian High School leading Group A alongside Jinja SS, Bukedea Comprehensive, and Standard High School Zana, while Group B features Amus College, 2024 champions Jinja Progressive Academy, Kisozi Seed SS, and tournament hosts St. Joseph of Nazareth High School.

Beyond football, teams will engage in round-robin battles across the other disciplines, with each match carrying weight in the quest for ultimate supremacy. Basketball, volleyball, handball, netball, and rugby 7s will see schools competing at the highest level, displaying tactical brilliance and athletic excellence. The intense rivalries and high stakes make this tournament a major highlight on the school sports calendar.
As preparations reach their final stages, St. Joseph of Nazareth High School has assured participants of a seamless experience. “We are fully prepared to host the games,” said Julius Alpha Amega, Head Teacher of St. Joseph of Nazareth High School. “Our playing fields are in excellent condition, and our accommodation facilities are ready to welcome the teams.” With infrastructure in place and excitement building, the stage is set for a spectacular showcase of skill and determination.
With all schools expected to arrive by February 13th, 2025, the countdown to Uganda’s biggest school sports showdown has begun.
