Venom on Top as SUPL Round One Ends Amid Kitara Fixture Uncertainty

The 2025/2026 StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) Round One has concluded with Vipers SC firmly in control at the summit, underlining their title credentials with authority and consistency. The Venoms lead the standings on 36 points from 14 matches, maintaining an unbeaten run and boasting the league’s most potent attack and tightest defense, in full compliance with Rule 13 of the FUFA Competition Rules 2025.
Hot on their trail is a tightly packed chasing group, with Entebbe UPPC FC, KCCA FC, and SC Villa all locked on 30 points after 15 matches. Kitara FC remain a serious contender in fifth place with 29 points but crucially have a game in hand, a factor that could significantly reshape the title race when clarity is finally provided. Police FC complete the top six on 28 points, ensuring the championship conversation remains wide open heading into Round Two.
However, the narrative of Round One is incomplete without addressing the unresolved Kitara FC versus Vipers SC fixture. The match, scheduled as part of a double-header at Namboole Stadium under the now-defunct new league format, failed to take place after the Entebbe-based side did not show up due to sporting reasons. As a result, Kitara FC remain in limbo, awaiting a decisive ruling from FUFA on whether the match will be rescheduled or points awarded.
The uncertainty has not gone unnoticed. Vipers SC, keen on competitive integrity and fixture clarity, have on several occasions formally written to FUFA seeking guidance on the matter. To date, those appeals have been met with silence, leaving clubs, officials, and supporters alike speculating on an outcome that could influence both the title race and mid-table dynamics.
As the SUPL pauses before Round Two, the league finds itself at a crossroads between on-pitch excellence and off-pitch decision-making. While Vipers SC continue to set the pace with venomous precision, the unresolved Kitara fixture looms as a defining administrative test. FUFA’s eventual decision will not only close Round One officially but may also tilt the balance of power in what is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing SUPL seasons in recent memory.
