Waves of Glory: Kawempe Muslim SS Stun Defending Champions in Beach Soccer Debut

The sand sizzled and history was made as Kawempe Muslim Secondary School lit up the beach soccer stage with a jaw-dropping 6-3 victory over defending champions Standard High School Zana. In a debut performance that shook the tournament’s foundation, Kawempe Muslim displayed the swagger of seasoned veterans. Dorcus Kisakye etched her name into history by scoring Kawempe’s first-ever goal in the competition, and she didn’t stop there. Kisakye bagged a brilliant brace, joined on the scoresheet by Agnes Nabukenya, who also struck twice, while Kampi Zoena and Tracy Nabalanzi added one apiece in a performance that sent shockwaves across Tororo.

Standard High Zana, the reigning queens, were left stunned by Kawempe’s fiery start and relentless pressure. Although Turyasingura Prudence, Abiko Brenda, and Karungi Phionah managed to claw three goals back, the damage had already been done. Kawempe’s energy, skill, and belief proved too strong, instantly transforming them from debutants to serious contenders for the crown.

In another thrilling girls’ clash, Mukono Kings High School edged out a determined Kasheshero Girls side 2-1. The match was a tense affair until Gune Consy and Nakyanzi Sarah stepped up with goals in the second and final periods to seal victory. But it was the hosts, Tororo Girls School, who delivered the day’s most ruthless performance, humiliating St Lawrence Citizen of Horizon 11-0 in a display of total dominance that sent the home crowd into a frenzy.

The boys weren’t to be outdone. Standard High School Zana’s male team bounced back from the girls’ upset by obliterating The Academy of St Lawrence 9-1, with Luwagga Allan stealing the spotlight through an incredible four-goal haul. Mbale School for the Deaf added to the drama with a pulsating 5-3 triumph over Kigezi High School, proving once again that talent knows no bounds.

As the tournament heads into Day Two at the scenic Tororo Girls School Beach Soccer Arena, excitement is at an all-time high. With newcomers shaking giants, local heroes rising, and goals flying in, this year’s beach soccer spectacle is turning out to be one of the most thrilling editions yet. Buckle up, the tide has just begun to rise.
