The Women in Motorsport Uganda (WIMU) Welfare Association held its 2nd Annual General Meeting, a momentous event not just required by the FMU constitution for transparency or accountability—but a true celebration of unity, progress, and purpose.

Under the leadership of President Dr Evelyn Kobusingye, in just her first year at the helm, WIMU has evolved into a vibrant force driving female participation across the motorsport spectrum, remarkable strides from administration, technical, media, safety, time control, to environmental roles women are now playing major roles not just supporting events but spearheading them.
This year, women didn’t just participate—they led and delivered. From overseeing major events like MPU Mbarara Rally, FMU Garuga Sprint, TT Drags and Drift, to organizing the Watendwa’s Fundraising Sprint, their contribution to environmental sustainability was also recognised during the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally, and their involvement WIMU’s presence was felt both on and off the track
Speaking during the AGM, Rose Deedan, Chairperson WIMU Commission, she was so proud and happy to see such determined women with a deep passion for sport. We are not just participating we’re leading, influencing, and making a real difference. We shall support the association in any way we can. Together, we will push boundaries and open more doors for women in this sport.” Her words deeply resonated in women and fueled an even greater sense of unity and purpose within the association.
Beyond racing, WIMU’s heart lies in community. 2025 saw two impactful CSR projects—in Hoima and at the Cancer Institute, Mulago. Now, eyes are on Gulu, where during the upcoming Gulu RR Memorial Rally (hosted by Central Motor Club), WIMU will partner with Scity Paints to paint a school block and sponsor a girl child’s education for two years, living their mission of keeping the girl child in school.
With the powerful slogan “Let’s Go Coloured”, Scity Paints joins other valued partners—TopiCrem Feel Good Dermatology, Segamu 14 Consult, Viya Health Uganda, Moil Energies, Tile Grip, Dr. Ali Medical Services, and D’Code Dynamic—in empowering WIMU’s journey, their support makes all these dreams and actions possible.
To cap the year in style, November 29, 2025, will mark a historic night as Women in Motorsport hosts its first-ever Awards Ceremony, recognizing excellence, passion, and commitment. This night will be a tribute to the tireless effort, coordination and love for Motorsport that women bring on the track.
