When you hear the name Yasin Nasser, good one thing comes to mind: NEMO, grit, performance, and relentless pursuit of victory. Born on December 20, 1981, Nasser has become a national icon in Uganda’s motorsport world and now, all eyes are on him “Team Kawumbi” as he chases the most prestigious rally crown in Africa: the 2025 African Rally Championship (ARC).

Nasser’s journey into motorsport began in 2015, with a deep passion for rallying and an undying love with his Subaru Impreza STi N10. For over six years, he drove the roaring Subarus through Uganda’s toughest terrains, slowly rising through the ranks. He wasn’t handed anything — he fought for every position, every second, and every victory.
That determination paid off in 2019, when he won his first Uganda National Rally Championship (NRC) title. Not through “sweet words,” as fans say — but through the roar of engines, the dust of gravel, and the battle scars of fierce competition.
During the Champions Sprint on Boxing Day 26th December 2022, he introduced a new beast to the public: the Ford Fiesta Rally 2. In 2023, he had successful season after reclaimed the NRC title once again with Ford Fiesta Rally 2, emotions ran high. Some fans were excited, others skeptical. But Nasser had a clear reason: the Ford Fiesta Rally2 represented modern performance, precision handling, and competitive edge — everything needed to dominate the African rally scene.
Backed by Moil Energies and Bam Petroleum, and as the lead driver of the Moil Rally Team, Nasser’s transition from Subaru to Ford signaled not just a car upgrade — but the evolution of a champion.
Over the years, Nasser has competed across East, Central, and wider Africa, gaining unmatched experience on the continent’s most demanding rally routes. In the 2025 ARC season, he has already shown serious intent:

At Safari Rally Kenya, Nasser kicked off his ARC campaign with a powerful statement in 3rd position.
At the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally, he stood tall on the podium, giving Ugandans hope in 2nd position.
In Rwanda’s Mountain Gorilla Rally, the team’s determination and chemistry were unmatched fought hard and secure points in 4th position.
At Rallye International Du Burundi, he faced intense pressure from top contenders but held his ground with expert strategy and sheer fight until podium finish 2nd position.
And now, the Mkwawa Rally of Morogoro, Tanzania — happening this September 18th to 21st — the deciding battle, Yasin leading with 114 points
Uganda’s only ARC title came in 1999, through the legendary Charles Muhangi. Since then, no Ugandan driver has lifted the continental trophy.
If Nasser wins this year, it will end a 25-year drought — a symbolic silver jubilee of waiting. For fans, it’s not just a race. It’s history in the making.
Is it the man behind the wheel, or is it the machine? That’s the question buzzing across the motorsport circles. But those who know Yasin Nasser and his co-driver Ali Katumba know one thing: they are fighters until the very last stage. The final rally in Tanzania could be the deciding factor. The Moil Rally Team is prepared, focused, and hungry. They’re not just racing for a title — they’re racing for Uganda.
With strong backing, a loyal fanbase, and a car that’s built for champions, Nasser is poised to bring the ARC title back home. Team Moil has shown us that talent, strategy, and teamwork can dream big — and deliver even bigger. Uganda, this could be your year.
Africa, watch this space.
In Yasin Nasser, we trust.
