Johannesburg – The 2025 Africa Nations Cup – Afcon qualifiers whose draws were conducted on Thursday in Johannesburg – South Africa put Uganda in the same group K alongside Bafana Bafana, Congo – Brazzaville and neighbours – South Sudan.
Interestingly – the draws, which Ivory Coast Head Coach Emerse Faé and former Morocco international Marouane Chamakh jointly conducted, gave The Cranes opponents whose respective national flags have dominant red and green linings.
Uganda was placed in pot 2 and could only face a team from the other buckets including 1,3 and 4.
Uganda has missed out on the last two Afcon finals and an appearance at the Morocco event would be a boost ahead of the joint Pamoja Champions scheduled for 2027 in each of the three East African nations.
The Morocco qualifiers are set to start in September – extending to November this year, where only the top two performers from each group in addition to hosts book a place in the finals.
