Pearl of Africa Rally Roars Early as FMU Introduces Pre – Scrutineering to Beat Record Entry Surge

The road to the Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally has officially shifted into top gear well before the ceremonial flag-off. Today, the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) took a proactive step by conducting Pre-Technical Checks (Pre – Scrutineering) to ease pressure ahead of what is shaping up to be one of the most competitive editions in recent history.

This early inspection exercise targeted a section of the National Rally Championship (NRC) crews, particularly those in the ever-entertaining 2WD category and Clubman Rally Championship. With over 60 drivers already confirmed, FMU is facing numbers that have outgrown the traditional scrutineering window.

Ordinarily, all competing cars undergo full scrutineering on the eve of the rally. But with entries exceeding expectations, FMU has opted for a more strategic approach, splitting the process to ensure efficiency, safety compliance, and technical integrity without last-minute chaos.

And the numbers don’t just stop locally.

This year’s Pearl is attracting a regional invasion, with over 20 international crews expected from Kenya, Rwanda, and Tanzania. Their presence adds another layer of intensity to Round 2 of the FIA African Rally Championship (ARC), a calendar highlight that consistently delivers high-speed drama and elite-level competition.

The rally will also count as Round 2 of Uganda’s NRC, setting the stage for a thrilling dual championship battle where local heroes meet continental heavyweights.

From roaring engines to cutting-edge rally machines, this year’s edition promises more than just competition, it’s a celebration of motorsport evolution in the region. The early scrutineering is not just a logistical decision; it’s a reflection of a rally that is growing in stature, attracting deeper grids, and demanding higher standards.

As anticipation builds, one thing is certain,

Uganda is ready to host one of the biggest motorsport spectacles on the continent.

Whether you’re a die-hard rally fan or a newcomer to the sport, this is your call to action, be part of the adrenaline, the rivalry, and the unforgettable moments at the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally 2026.
