Rain and Resilience: A Recap of Match Day Two

The second weekend of the 2025 National Men’s 50 Over League was plagued by relentless rain, causing havoc across several matches. The highly anticipated Mukono derby between St. John’s SS and Mukono Development was washed out, forcing both teams to split the points. Similarly, the Division One clash between Wanderers and Avengers, the Kutch Tigers versus Ceylon Lions match, and the Division Two fixture between SKLPS and Mukono Warriors all fell victim to the downpour.

Amidst the soggy conditions, some teams managed to shine. KC Budo displayed resilience in their match against Nile CC, securing a 3-wicket victory in a 22-over-a-side contest. GM Sugar dominated Premier CC, clinching a comfortable 74-run win in their rain-shortened game. Aboojo CC also tasted victory, defeating Tornado Bees by 4 wickets in a 20-over match.

In a thrilling Division One local derby, debutants JACC announced their arrival by defeating Rounders by 44 runs, propelling themselves to the top of the Division One standings. As Matchday 2 concluded, the weather had certainly played a significant role, but teams like JACC, Aboojo, and GM Sugar emerged as early frontrunners, promising an exciting season ahead.
