As preparations intensify for the historic TotalEnergies CAF AFCON PAMOJA 2027 tournament, the Uganda Local Organising Committee (LOC) has called on local businesses to position themselves for lucrative procurement opportunities by registering for supplier pre-qualification. The appeal signals the beginning of a major commercial drive aimed at ensuring Ugandan companies play a central role in delivering East Africa’s first jointly hosted Africa Cup of Nations.
Speaking during a media briefing at the Uganda Media Centre in Kampala, the Chairperson of the LOC Communications and Promotions Sub-Committee, Dr. Dennis K. Mugimba, said the ongoing Request for Information (RFI) exercise is designed to identify competent and credible suppliers who will be eligible to compete for contracts related to the organisation of the continental football spectacle. He urged qualified enterprises to seize the opportunity and become partners in one of the region’s biggest sporting events.
The pre-qualification exercise is being conducted through the Uganda Tournament Management System (TOMAS) and will remain open until the end of July. Companies that successfully complete the registration process will form the official supplier database from which bidders will be invited to compete for contracts once procurement begins later this year.
The LOC expects demand across a wide range of sectors, including hospitality, catering, transport and logistics, information and communication technology, media and broadcasting, branding, medical services, security, event management, consultancy, documentary production, fan engagement, merchandise manufacturing and general office supplies. To qualify, businesses must be legally registered in Uganda, comply with PPDA regulations, meet tax obligations and demonstrate a proven record of delivering quality services.
Dr. Mugimba emphasized that all procurement activities will be conducted in line with CAF’s procurement framework and Uganda’s commitments under the AFCON PAMOJA 2027 Host Agreement. He also reminded prospective applicants that the registration process is completely free, encouraging businesses to submit their applications before the deadline as Uganda, alongside Kenya and Tanzania, continues preparations to host Africa’s premier football tournament.
