Express FC players have received a lifeline from their devoted supporters, Fans POWESA sacco, following a disappointing 2-2 draw against Vipers SC. The fans’ cooperative had pledged a winning bonus of UGX 12 million to be equally shared among the players if they had triumphed over the reigning champions. Despite the stalemate, the SACCO rewarded the team with UGX 5 million for their spirited performance.
In recognition of individual brilliance during the high-stakes clash, club captain Emmanuel Wasswa and the debutant goalkeeper Hafizi received additional bonuses for their exceptional displays. The match, which drew a large crowd and intense scrutiny, saw Express FC put up a commendable fight, showcasing resilience despite ongoing internal struggles within the club’s administration.

Express FC Fans POWESA, under the stewardship of Julius Bakunda, officially assumed temporary responsibility for the players’ welfare. This move comes as a response to the club’s failure to meet its financial obligations, with players reportedly going months without salaries or training allowances—an issue that has severely hampered morale and performance.
According to SACCO officials, they catered for the team’s expenses for the Vipers SC encounter and have committed to managing welfare for the upcoming fixture against Mbale Heroes. The initiative, described as a stopgap measure, is aimed at stabilizing the club while the administration works to reorganize and regain full operational control.
The intervention by the sacco has been widely praised by fans and stakeholders, with many urging the club leadership to urgently resolve the financial crisis. As Express FC prepares for their next league fixture, all eyes remain on the club’s management to see whether they will match the commitment shown by the fans and restore the club’s once-glorious stature.
