NIC Outguns Prisons as Maternity Marvel Serah Shines in Super League Encounter

Netball powerhouse NIC Netball Club pushed their Uganda Netball Super League campaign second game in style with a commanding 57-44 victory over Prisons Netball Club. The game, played under a moist drizzling weather, showcased NIC’s trademark precision and flair, spearheaded by an inspiring performance from goal shooter Serah Zam, who defied odds by returning to court just two weeks after giving birth.

The seasoned shooter’s resilience and poise set the tone for NIC’s dominance throughout the match, much to the delight of fans who filled the stands. Her sharp movements, quick passes, and accurate shooting proved too much for a revamped Prisons side that is still finding its rhythm under new leadership.

Prisons Netball Club entered the season with high expectations, having acquired six new players, including former St Mary’s Boarding School Kitende captain, Nasim Kadhaala Dafala. However, the cohesion seemed lacking as they struggled to match NIC’s tempo and tactical discipline in all four quarters of the game.

Despite the defeat, Prisons’ new head coach, Noordin Hassan Kato, remained upbeat about his team’s prospects this season. “This was our first game, and we have a lot to work on. It’s a process, but I have full confidence in the talent and potential of these girls. We will bounce back stronger,” Kato told reporters after the match.

As the Super League gains momentum, NIC’s dominant performance sends an early warning to other contenders. For Prisons, the loss serves as both a wake-up call and a reminder of the work that lies ahead in transforming individual brilliance into team chemistry. All eyes will be on their next fixture to see how they respond.
