Singapore and Hong Kong, China have secured places to be invited to the Netball World Cup Sydney 2027 after finishing as the top two teams at the NWC2027 Asian Regional Qualifier.
The two nations emerged from the Asian qualification tournament held in Hong Kong from August 8 to 15, 2026, earning the first two regional qualification spots for next year’s global showpiece in Sydney, Australia. Their qualification takes the number of teams that have secured their places to eight, with six nations having already been pre-qualified based on their positions in the World Netball Rankings as of December 1, 2025.
The six pre-qualified teams are hosts Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, England, South Africa and Uganda. Uganda’s She Cranes secured their place after finishing sixth in the World Netball Rankings, joining the world’s leading nations on the road to Sydney.
For Singapore, the qualification represents a return to the biggest stage of international netball, while hosts Hong Kong, China will also earn their opportunity to compete at the 2027 World Cup after a successful campaign on home soil. The Asian qualifier featured six teams Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Maldives and India — competing for the two available World Cup places with eight of the 16 places now accounted for, the remaining qualification battles will continue across the other four regions.
The next opportunity comes in the Oceania Regional Qualifier in Tonga from September 14 to 18, followed by the African qualifier in Kenya from September 19 to 26. The European qualifier will be held in Scotland from September 25 to 27, while the Americas qualifier is scheduled for Barbados from October 19 to 26. Two teams from each regional qualifier will earn invitations to Sydney 2027.
The Netball World Cup Sydney 2027 will be held from August 25 to September 5, 2027, bringing together 16 of the world’s leading netball nations. The tournament will also introduce a new Cup and Plate competition format.
For Uganda, the She Cranes’ early qualification provides another opportunity to compete against the world’s best and continue their impressive rise on the international stage.
With eight teams now confirmed, the race for the remaining eight places is set to intensify as regional qualifiers continue across the globe.
