The Gladiators Ready to Make Their Mark at The Africa Kabaddi Cup

The Uganda Kabaddi sports team are set to represent their nation on the African stage at the upcoming Africa Women’s Kabaddi Championship in Nairobi,Kenya. Assistant General Secretary Sarah Chelangat offered words of encouragement to the team, urging them to represent Uganda with pride and strive for victory.

“As you travel to Kenya, know that you represent an entire nation that supports you and anticipates your success,” Sarah stated. “The National Council of Sports wishes you victory and a safe journey, emphasizing the importance of discipline during your time there.”

The Uganda Kabaddi team will depart for Kenya by bus on Saturday and is expected to arrive on Sunday morning. The team will rest on Sunday to prepare for their matches on Monday and Tuesday at the Kasarani Indoor Stadium. They will compete against teams from 10 participating countries, including Uganda, Kenya, Zanzibar, Rwanda, and other African nations.

The Uganda women’s Kabaddi team consists of 13 players.

Head Coach Ephraim explained the game’s card system: “The game is governed by three cards: the green card, yellow card, and red card. Yellow and red cards serve as warnings, while a green card results in the opposing team gaining a point and the penalized player being removed from the court for two minutes.”

Coach Ephraim expressed confidence in his team’s readiness: “All the girls are prepared to deliver strong performances on the court as they look forward to the World Cup championships in Delhi, India.”
