Kenya Kabadi League Faces Challenges, as Ugandan Gladiators Defend Title

Nairobi-Kenya……The Kenya Kabadi League kicked off on monday, but faced challenges right from the start. The initially advertised venue, Kasarani Indoor Stadium, was changed to Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology due to government occupation. The games were further disrupted by the swearing-in of university leaders, forcing two days’ worth of matches to be played in a day.

Despite these challenges, the African Women’s Kabadi League continued, albeit with only four participating countries: Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Zanzibar. The defending champions, Uganda’s Gradiators, proved unstoppable, confidently displaying their skills and abilities on court.

“We’re excited to defend our title and make it to the World Cup in India,” said Nalubega Olivia, captain of the Uganda Gladiators. “We’ve fulfilled what we promised Ugandans back home, and we’re proud to bring home another championship.”

In the group stages, Uganda defeated Kenya 1 and 2, Zanzibar, and Tanzania, qualifying for the semi-finals. They then defeated Kenya in the semi-finals and went on to face them again in the finals.

In the final match, Uganda dominated Kenya, leading 15:6 at halftime and eventually winning 22:14. Uganda not only retained their championship title but also took home the best defender award, while Kenya was awarded second runner-up.
