The countdown has officially begun for one of Uganda’s most anticipated motorsport festivals as Smoke & Steel 2026 prepares to roar into action from 21–23 August 2026 at the scenic Banana Resort Beach, Nyenga, Jinja.
Organised by TT Drags and Drift, the second edition of the adrenaline-filled event is expected to be bigger, louder and more competitive than ever before. This year’s festival has been elevated to an East African Championship, attracting elite drag racers and drift drivers from across Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and other parts of the region, with a strong South African contingent also expected to add international flair to the competition. Known for delivering breathtaking drifting displays, high-speed drag races and thrilling motorsport entertainment, TT Drags and Drift has built a reputation for creating events that leave fans wanting more. After the success of the inaugural edition, Smoke & Steel 2026 promises to raise the bar with more cars, more drivers, more action and an electrifying atmosphere throughout the three-day festival.
Spectators can expect a spectacular showcase of precision drifting, explosive drag racing battles, tyre-smoking burnouts and heart-pounding acceleration contests as some of East Africa’s finest street racers battle for championship honours. The presence of South African drivers is expected to further increase the level of competition, giving local and regional competitors an opportunity to test themselves against some of the continent’s best. Beyond the racing, the event promises a complete entertainment experience featuring music, camping, food, family-friendly activities and nonstop excitement at one of Uganda’s most picturesque lakeside venues. With engines screaming, tyres smoking and flames lighting up the night, Smoke & Steel 2026 is set to become a celebration of speed, skill and automotive culture.
The championship also reflects the growing popularity of motorsport in Uganda, where drag racing and drifting continue to attract new fans, competitors and sponsors. Events such as Smoke & Steel provide a platform for talented drivers to showcase their abilities while strengthening regional collaboration within the East African motorsport community.
