Young Stars Shine at Rain-Soaked Dolphins Juniors 2025 Championship

The Dolphins Juniors 2025 Championship was a spectacular event that showcased the talents of young swimmers from ages 5-11. Held annually in April, this year’s meet took place at the Kampala Parents School on Saturday, April 12th, and Sunday, April 13th. Despite the rain that poured down over the weekend, the young athletes shone brightly, breaking personal best times and pushing themselves to new heights.

Jinan Nakato

The competition was fierce, with top teams Black Panther and Silverfin Academy vying for dominance. In the end, Black Panther emerged victorious in the girls’ category, claiming the overall trophy with an impressive 176 points. Silverfin Academy, however, took the boys’ trophy with 184 points, demonstrating their strength and skill in the pool.

Aya Adams

Among the standout performers was 11-year-old Jinan Nakato from Dolphins, who claimed a gold medal in the girls’ final 50m freestyle event for the 10-11 age group. Swimming in Lane 1 of the final heat, Jinan clocked an impressive 29.9 seconds, outclassing her competitors, including Alba Ihunde and Gabriela Eleanor from Silverfin. Her impressive performance didn’t stop there, as she also shone in the relays, solidifying her position as a future prospect to watch.

On the boys’ side, Malachi Ssali from Dolphins made a personal best time in the 50m butterfly event, finishing ahead of Kristian Bwisho from Silverfin. Malachi’s time of 33 seconds was a significant improvement from his previous time of 35 seconds, showcasing his dedication and hard work.

Another talented young swimmer who caught the eye was 9-year-old Aya Adams from Aqua Akii. Aya continued her dominance in the 8-9 age category, winning the overall girls’ trophy and cementing her position as one of the top young swimmers in the competition.

The Dolphins Juniors Championship is a testament to the talent and potential of young swimmers in the region.
